Reminder there is no class on Saturday April 4th and May 23rd. This workshop focuses on self discovery in artistic freedom. Since this workshop is not about artistic technique, there will be no critique. Instead, students are allowed the freedom to paint, draw, journal, do yoga and meditate. We are born with two forms of expression: Visual and Verbal. Being fully connected with a deeper, more authentic part of ourselves is the pathway back to your visual self, tapping into the genuine creative voice. The Mindfulness--Based Self Expression course was created by Janet Slom. Janet, a professional studio artist who performs and exhibits internationally, is also a teacher and lecturer who has offered workshops on creativity, self--discovery, empowerment and inspired living for people of all ages. A distinguished artist, her paintings have been shown in institutions such as the United Nations in NY, and the South African Parliament in Cape Town. Janet has certifications in dance (in accordance with the Royal Academy), yoga (Yoga Alliance), and is a teacher of the Mindfulness- Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Throughout her career, Janet has synthesized art, movement, creativity, and MBSR in her workshops and projects.
