Silk Scarves: Shibori Sculpture
Instructor: Erin Bassett
Adults: Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, 3 - 6 PM
This workshop investigates the natural characteristics of silk. Students will bring several yards of silk fabric to create a one-of-a-kind silk scarf. Several traditional Shibori binding techniques will be taught to create color resist patterns in the fabric. Students will learn how to “sculpt” silk fabric by using manipulating techniques, applying heat through boiling, and then unbinding the fabric to ultimately create a wearable piece of art.
Students supply their own silk.
